From 2005 to Present, I have been freelancing and performing in contract positions with a variety of clients, some of which are : Whoop Design, Allen Interactions, Portage Interactive, and Sandbox Studio.
Some notable projects include:
- Curious Corner, Art Institute of Chicago : With a major addition of the Ryan Education Center in its Modern Wing, The Art Institute of Chicago Department of Museum Education, contracted with Sandbox Studio to create an interactive kiosk for their newly expanded Curious Corner. Curious Corner brings the museum’s collection of art to life with lively animation and fun features, with nine interactive multi-media games and activities.
- Allen Interactions website : As a contract web designer and web production artist, I was part of the team at Whoop Design to re-design and produce the current Allen Interactions website.
- Arts in Education, The Walters Art Museum : A series (currently 8 + and counting) of multi-media educational interactives produced for Sandbox Studio as a part of The Walters Museum’s Arts In Education online program.

From 1999 to 2005, I was the Art Director, UI Designer, and principal creative artist at Portage Interactive LLC since the company’s inception. As a contract studio we successfully completed projects for educational and entertainment companies, including:
- PLATO Learning : Several large educational projects aimed at the high school level. These contained many visual, interactive and audio assets that were re-designed and recreated into Flash for web delivery.
- FOCUS Reading and Language Program : Art direction and graphics creation of interface and activities for this 2003 winner of a Technology and Learning Award of Excellence; where kids learn the 45 phonemes of english while helping Emma Watson repair her audio robot helpers.
- Hewlett-Packard : “Print project” promotional CD-ROMs using Dreamworks’ Shrek2 character and movie elements. The project involved melding two style guides from companies with very developed ideas on their brands into one successful presentation and interface. This was so successful, they returned a third time for continuing projects.
- Twin Cities Public Television : Web site for their locally produced TV show titled, "North Star, Minnesota’s Black Pioneers." Airing Fall 2004.

Between 1997 and 1999, I was at The Learning Company, a leading children’s educational software developer producing such titles as Reader Rabbit, American Girls Premiere, Oregon Trail and Princeton Math Library. The work entailed animation, illustration, UI design, and at the time a lot of small detail image creation because of the limited color palettes of that time period.
- Managing art lead for Amazon Trail 3 and Math Library updates after only one year of employment.
- Asked to stay as part of a select team, after company site closing, to complete final products.

From 1994 to 1997, I was a Graphic Design Artist at Mello Smello — A youth oriented promotional, retail, and marketing company that produced licensed goods as well as its own retail products. While there, my ability to mix design with a technical grasp for creating production techniques lead me to:
- Being sole designer of successful Star Trek movie premiums for Jack-in-the-Box restaurants. Being a bit of a Trek geek this was good fun.
- Devise Photoshop production techniques for 6 color print jobs. These techniques proved be a great savings in time and money with a task that had previously been handled from outside. Before leaving, I created a how-to manual passing on these techniques and procedures.
- Become the “go-to-guy” to handle and prepare all outside generated projects.
